1. Receiving:
It is the process of receiving sound waves through sencory receptors of ears of the listeners. It is a physical response to sound waves. Listener must hear to listen, so that listener can proceed to understand the message delivered by speaker or sender of the message.
The process of analyzing the meaning of message listener has heard is called Understanding. It is not only understand words but sounds like laughs, applause also. Understanding includes intended meaning of message conveyed by sender.
Recalling is another important element of listening process. It is nothing but remembering message conveyed, for evaluation and feedback. Being a human being listener can listen whole message but whole message can not be stored and memorize in our memory. So, most of the listener listen in pieces and drop out the part that feels them unimportant. So, message recalled may be different than what sender actually conveyed.
To hear, understand and recall message successfully, respondent should be a good listener. Because only a good listener can evaluate message effectively. Evaluating means weigh the message with evidences, facts and requirements of time. Listener also prepares there feedback to respond.

This is the last stage of listening process. This stage begins immediately after complition of message of the speaker. This stage ensures speakers, whether the listener understood the message or not. It is the only way for the speaker to know whether the message being received and understood to the respondent or not. Feedback may be varied according to the understanding level and perception capacity of the listeners.
